Ever since I can remember, our family has had dogs. I remember as a little boy our family had won a dog in a raffle. I remember stories of her eating everything. Growing up I remember Lisa a mixed breed. Inn high school a friends son gave us a pregnant dog he'd picked up on Happy Jack Rd. She was so happy to have a good home that she presented us with 7 puppies.
When I was in college my mother wanted a Samoyed. We knew of a someone who had a litter and Nick was our first Samoyed. While all the dogs in the litter were well on their way to becoming Champions. It was a very sad litter Nick's brother was running along the fence and had a heart attack. Nick was hit by a carload of high school kids that was speeding, and I couldn't get control of him before he was in a hit and run accident.
Our next Samoyed was Little Nick (Nick, Two) He was a backyard breeding. We also did 3 rescue Samoyeds. One was because the previous owners had built a new house with white carpet and the dog was tracking in mud with the kids. I said," keep the dog and get rid of the kids".
I'm trying to remember when I got Rocky. It was when the Colorado Rockies were in the playoffs. A friend said, you like the Rockies so much, how about Rocky. I still get sad when I think about that beautiful boy. He was a nationally ranked Grand Champion (50th) He loved to show, and I loved watching him. I bred him and he produced Jenny and Blizzard. I wanted to keep Blizzard, but the co-owner told me you do not want two intact males in the same house. Blizzy has produced several champions and Grand Champions. I did finish Junny, but she was a difficult one to finish, which brings me to my current girl Deka. Deka is what we call a COVID dog. She was doing well in the show ring until covid hit and no shows or socialization with other dogs and people for two years. I never did finish her, but she is a great pet.
I am Planning on getting another puppy this spring (2026). I am hoping to find a Blizzy offspring so I can keep the "Rocky Line" going. The males from that litter love to show. The females "not so much"
I do have a registered name figured out. I just need to figure out a call name.
Here's to more "fun in the ring' in the future!
