Kathy Spahr - Vice President

About Me

I was born and raised in Cheyenne and started my journey with dogs as a child in 4-H with a  smooth dachshund.  When my husband Gary and I met, I had a labrador and he had a sheltie and we both showed in  obedience.  After we got married we decided on pugs as a breed we wanted to raise and show.  Gary and I joined the  Cheyenne Kennel Club in 1981.  I have held several positions such as Corresponding Secretary, Board Member,

Show Chairman, Pooches Post editor, and Hospitality Chairman for our annual show.  Gary and I raised many  pug litters, showed and finished 20+ Champions and several obedience titles.  Our greatest accomplishment was  having a top 20 conformation pug and a top 10 obedience pug in 1997 and they just happened to be son and mother.  I currently belong to the Pug Dog Club of America and Rocky Mountain Pug Dog Club.  I taught obedience classes

at the college and Parks and Recreation before starting my own business Windy Acres Dog Obedience and   taught classes out of my 4-car garage.  I was active in Therapy Dogs Inc. (now Alliance of Therapy Dogs) and  was an original officer and board member.  After my husband passed away I didn’t think I would  be as active  in the world of dog clubs and showing, but my kennel club friends and pug friends thought  otherwise.  I am back  on the board of the kennel club and the proud owner of a new pug puppy who just finished her championship.
